Parents and Carers

Parents

Schools are not just places were young people learn, they are part of your community, bringing together individuals and local groups in convenient and familiar locations. The DrugAware Award recognises the importance of a community approach to address drug and alcohol misuse. In order to do this we offer materials to schools and communities, helping them work together, bringing them closer to meet the needs of young people.

Whether you are a parent, carer, governor or school parent support worker you can join in with the DrugAware process.

  • Download the activity pack and hold a drug education session in your school
  • Read our quick tips for parents
  • Find out more about the facts of how drugs affect young people and think how you might discuss the issue with your children
  • Get the support you need if drugs or alcohol are affecting your life or your child's life.

We have linked up with the Regents House Project who support parents who are worried about family members who use drugs or alcohol. They may be able to help you organize an awareness session in your school or community or organize one to one support. You can contact them on their website.

Or you can speak to a specialist support worker by calling 0800 052 59 59.
